BVBW Inc Affiliation and Insurance Update

 Dear Bushwalkers

Since the Department of Sport and Recreation disbanded the 'Walking for Pleasure'

program, members of BVBW have been trying to find the best solution to get us all back

walking again.

To this end many members have done a lot of research, made many phone calls and

we’ve had a few meetings. Following our two meetings at Wolumla Hall we’ve become

an incorporated body, Bega Valley Bushwalkers Inc., and have elected a committee.

The committee has been in regular contact and has now decided to recommend to

the group that we:

 proceed with affiliation with Bushwalking NSW

 take the Insurance offered through Bushwalking Australia. (This is a

tailored package designed for groups like ours. Our options for gaining

insurance independently appear limited and more costly)

There are 3 components to the insurance offered: Associates, Public Liability and

Personal Accident Insurances. Links are provided below for details.

This requires that our agreed membership fee of $20 be changed to $25 - BUT this

will now cover; our affiliation with Bushwalking NSW, Public Liability and

Personal Accident insurance, membership fee as well as the initial costs of

Incorporation (to be reimbursed to Robert Lewin).

This will take us through to June 30 2021, when after the AGM the ongoing

Membership fees can be calculated.

By agreeing with this it means that we will not need another meeting to discuss and

debate the pros and cons of affiliation and insurance and can then move ahead with

getting membership happening as soon as possible. The costs are fairly minimal and

this is a pathway taken by over 70 NSW bushwalking groups before us.
